BATHURST - The Saint John Sea Dogs are entering 2025 on a five-game road losing streak.
The Sea Dogs dropped a fifth straight game away from home on Tuesday afternoon at the KC Irving Regional Centre, falling 5-2 to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. It was the final regular season meeting in history between the provincial rivals.
The Sea Dogs entered the third down 3-1 and got within one when Dylan Rozzi scored on a power play at 15:46. Momentum continued to shift in Saint John's favour when they headed back to the man advantage at 16:28. But the tides turned when Mathieu St-Onge beat Nicolas Bilodeau one-on-one and flicked the puck past Justin Robinson at 16:44, making it 4-2 Titan with the shorthanded marker.
Bathurst entered the game with a league leading 10 shorthanded goals.
Tyson Goguen secured the win with an empty net goal at 18:28.
Liam Arsenault, Louis-Francois Belanger and Alexandre Lallier also scored for Bathurst. Joshua Fleming made 31 stops in the win.
Olivier Groulx had Saint John's other goal. Robinson, making a second straight start with Charles-Edward Gravel still out of the lineup, made 31 saves in the loss.
The loss drops the Sea Dogs to 16-18-0-0 overall and 6-11-0-0 on the road.
