SAINT JOHN - A goal from Tyler Peddle with 50.1 seconds left in the third period lifted the Charlottetown Islanders past the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday night at TD Station.

The former Sea Dogs forward finished off a nice passing play, beating Rafaël Courchesne blocker side to give the Islanders a 5-4 victory. Saint John, with their goaltender pulled, pressed in the final 30 seconds of regulation but could not net an equalizer.

Courchesne was named the game's first star and was certainly worthy of the honour, making 42 saves and giving Saint John a chance. The Sea Dogs were dominated in the second period with shots ending 25-5, but Courchesne only allowed two goals and made several huge stops to make it a 3-3 game heading into the third.

Angelo Fullerton's second of the night gave Saint John a 4-3 lead at 9:00 of the third only for Nathan Leek to tie it up at 11:27.

Anthony Flanagan, Ryan Staples and Matthew Butler also scored for Charlottetown. Donald Hickey made 17 saves in the win.

Everett Baldwin and Jabez Seymour also scored for Saint John.

The win was Charlottetown's fifth straight. The loss ended a two-game winning streak for Saint John.
