Pre-Season Game Day 1: vs Wildcats

ST. STEPHEN, NB - The Saint John Sea Dogs begin Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League pre-season play tonight against a familiar foe.

The Sea Dogs will host the Moncton Wildcats this evening at St. Stephen's Garcelon Civic Center, the opponent that swept them in the opening round of the QMJHL playoffs last season.

Both teams should look quite a bit different tonight. Both squads are at similar stages of training camp and have several cuts yet to make.

The Wildcats have already played two pre-season games, defeating the Newfoundland Regiment 6-4 last Friday before falling 8-2 to the Charlottetown Islanders on Saturday.

The Sea Dogs and Wildcats met last season in St. Stephen with Moncton posting a 4-1 win.

Game time tonight is 7 p.m.

Notes: The Sea Dogs currently have 35 players at training camp with the addition of 20-year-old defenseman Joe Mense this week... looks like a number of freshmen will make their QMJHL pre-season debuts tonight, including Oliver Ozogany, Matyas Cancik, Nathan Riendeau and Lawrence Williams... we'll get our first look at some new, older Sea Dogs, including Mense, Ryan Howard and Thomas Charbonneau... here are the rosters the Wildcats had for an intrasquad game the other day... Moncton made a few roster moves today... it appears American defenseman Jake Boguniecki will play for the Wildcats tonight. The Boston College commit played with the USNTDP last year... these two teams meet again on Friday night in Fredericton.
