SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to get back on track tonight.

The Sea Dogs lost 3-0 to the Moncton Wildcats last night in Amherst. The two teams battle again this evening at 7pm at Harbour Station. There are plenty tickets available for Saint John’s first pre-season game played at the Station this season.

Last night’s loss dropped the Sea Dogs to 1-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League exhibition play this year. Their lone win was against the PEI Rocket in their pre-season opener. Since then they have lost matches to the Rocket, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, and the Wildcats.

Saint John’s offense didn’t have a great game last night at Amherst Stadium. They were shutout, were outshot 26-19, and went 0-for-8 on the power play. Obviously, they’ll want to improve on that performance tonight.

Allain Saulnier, Christophe Lalonde, and James Melindy scored for the ‘Cats. Dmitri Jaskin led the team with five shots on goal and three hits. Alex Dubeau stopped on 19 shots he faced.

Moncton improved to 2-3-0 in pre-season play with the victory. They’ve been outscored 20-16 in the five games.

Following tonight’s game, the Sea Dogs have this week to prepare for their next exhibition match. The Dogs travel to Halifax on Friday to take on the Mooseheads.

Before these two played each other last night…

Saint John’s last game was a 5-2 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in Tracadie-Sheila on August 22. Marcus Cuomo and Connor Donaghey had goals for the Sea Dogs. Sebastien Auger made 24 saves while Alex Fournier made 11.

Moncton is coming off a 7-1 loss to the Halifax Mooseheads on August 25 at Acadia. Ross Johnston had the lone Moncton goal. Brandon Thibeau made 15 saves while Grant Grady made 13.

Saint John went 6-2-0-0 against Moncton last season while the Wildcats went 2-3-1-2 against the Sea Dogs.

These two last played each other on February 28 at Harbour Station. Charlie Coyle, Jonathan Huberdeau, Maxime Villemaire, Nathan Beaulieu, and Stanislav Galiev scored in Saint John’s 5-3 victory. Marek Hrivik, Devon MacAusland, and Christophe Lalonde scored for Moncton. Mathieu Corbeil made 18 saves for the Dogs while Roman Will made 36 for the ‘Cats.

  • The annual Season Ticket holder BBQ will be held from 4 – 5:30pm today at Harbour Station.
  • A new fan group, the Sea Dog Ultras, is expected to launch tonight. We'll see how that goes. They will be in section 6.
