Kirkwood Called Up

The Sea Dogs have once again shuffled their defense.

The team announced this afternoon that they have called up Sheehan Kirkwood from the Valley Wildcats of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League. From the release:

Kirkwood, 18, signed as an affiliate player with the Sea Dogs after attending training camp on a tryout last fall. The Copper Cliff, Ontario, native played three preseason games with Saint John.

Kirkwood, 6'3" and 238 lbs., has one goal and six assists for seven points in 35 games this season with the Wildcats.

The Sea Dogs also announced that 16-year old defender Bailey Webster has been sent back to the Kensington Wild of the NB/PEI Major Midget AAA Hockey League. Webster, a 2013 draft pick of Saint John, has three points in six total QMJHL games this season.

Defensemen Jurij Repe and Olivier LeBlanc have missed the last few games with injuries. It was also announced yesterday that d-man Michael Abbott will miss the rest of the season.

Saint John hosts the Shawinigan Cataractes tonight at 7pm.
