GAME DAY 41: vs Oceanic

The Saint John Sea Dogs (24-13-3-0, 51 points, 2nd Maritimes, 7th QMJHL) will be looking for their fifth straight victory this afternoon when they host the Rimouski Oceanic (24-13-3-1, 51 points, 2nd East, 6th QMJHL) at 3 p.m. at Harbour Station.

Last games: The Oceanic are coming off a 3-1 loss in Charlottetown yesterday afternoon. Tyler Boland scored Rimouski’s only goal while Alexandre Lagace made 22 saves in the loss. The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-2 win in Bathurst last night. Adam Marsh, Sam Povorozniouk, Daniel Del Paggio, Matthew Highmore and Nathan Noel all scored in the victory while Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 23 saves.

2015-16 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Oceanic.

Three Things to Know
1. The Oceanic have been one of the league’s best home teams this season, posting an impressive 15-4-2-0 record. On the road, they are just 9-9-1-1.

2. Following this game, the Sea Dogs will have played every team in the league at least once this season. These two meet again on Jan. 29 in Rimouski.

3. Goaltender Louis-Philip Guindon, who was given yesterday’s game off, is second in the league in minutes played, saves and wins. Five of his 22 victories have come in shootouts.

Notes: Mathieu Joseph is second in the league in shorthanded goals with five. He is tied for the lead in shorthanded points with seven… Rimouski has given up three shorthanded goals this year, which ties them for the fewest in the league… Marc-Antoine Turcotte’s 18 wins are fifth most in the Q… Saint John’s home record has improved during this win streak.
