Chabot scores in QMJHL victory

CHICOUTIMI, Que. - Thomas Chabot scored in Team QMJHL's 4-0 win in Game 5 of the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series on Tuesday.

The victory secured a series victory for the CHL even with one game remaining in the annual six-game event.

Chabot scored on a slap shot at 5:22 of the third period, giving Team QMJHL a 3-0 lead at the time.
Julien Gauthier scored twice while Nicolas Roy added a solo marker. Captain Pierre-Luc Dubois had two assists. Callum Booth made 16 saves for the shutout win - the first ever by the QMJHL in Canada Russia Series play.

The other Sea Dog playing in the event, forward Mathieu Joseph, was held pointless with one shot.

Former Sea Dogs forward Nikita Li, playing with the Russian squad, had one shot.

The series comes to a close on Thursday in Baie-Comeau.
