SAINT JOHN - Three players have been reassigned from the Saint John Sea Dogs' training camp roster.
The team announced this morning that forwards Matthew Pietroniro and Luke Wilson along with defenceman Thomas Ashe are no longer at camp.
Pietroniro, who will turn 18 in November, was traded to Saint John in the Callum Booth deal during the holiday trade period last season. He appeared in two games with Saint John last year, going pointless.
Wilson was a ninth-round pick of the Sea Dogs in this year's QMJHL Entry Draft. In 38 games with the Dartmouth Major Midgets last season, Wilson recorded seven goals and 20 points.
Ashe was a ninth-round pick of the Sea Dogs in the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft. The 17-year-old registered three assists in 38 games with the Moncton Flyers last year. He was held pointless in two games with the MHL's Dieppe Commandos.
There are 38 players remaining in camp: four goalies, 13 defencemen and 21 forwards.
The Sea Dogs host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan tonight at 7 p.m. in QMJHL preseason play.
