Recap: Sea Dogs win 4-1

SAINT JOHN - Make it 13 straight wins for the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs scored three times in the second period en route to a 4-1 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles on Thursday at TD Station.

Brady Burns scored a pair of goals while Willam Dufour and Peter Reynolds added singles. Thomas Couture made 29 stops in the win.

Former Sea Dog Carter McCluskey netted Cape Breton's lone goal. Nicolas Ruccia made 40 stops in the loss.

Much like other recent Eagles-Dogs games, Saint John dominated stretches of this game while others were fairly even. The Sea Dogs led 1-0 after one but scored three quick goals in the second to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Saint John will look to make it 14 straight wins in their home finale against the Eagles on Friday night.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Noah Patenaude (injury); defensemen Vincent Despont (healthy) and Hunter Gartley (healthy); and forwards Riley Bezeau (injury) and Nicholas Blagden (injured or sick).

FREE STUFF: The first 500 season ticket members received these unique prints. The prints were all hand signed by players
PRE-GAME: There was a pre-game ceremony to honour Saint John's three overage players - Ryan Francis, Vincent Sevigny and Philippe Daoust. All three were in the team's starting lineup and were given the game's three stars. The Sea Dogs also paid tribute to Guy Lafleur before the game.

DUFOUR: William Dufour netted his league-leading 54th goal of the season. With two games to go, Dufour has a one-goal lead on Charlottetown's Patrick Guay.
STREAKS: The Sea Dogs extended their winning streak to 13 games with the victory. They've also won five straight contests on home ice. The Eagles, meanwhile, have lost 13 straight road games.

SOUNDLESS: The TD Station sound system went down midway through the second period. Goals were announced by a megaphone. The sound returned to start the third period and received a loud applause from fans and players.

NOTES: Former Eagle Connor Trenholm returned to the Sea Dogs lineup after missing Saturday's game with an injury... the Sea Dogs wore their black third jerseys... there was a (seeming successful) prom proposal during the third period... Jacob Chantler was injured during the second period and did not play in the third... both teams shook hands with linesman Mike MacDonnell after the game, who is retiring at season's end.. attendance was 2,771.
