Sea Dogs announce team award winners

SAINT JOHN - William Dufour was the big winner at the annual Saint John Sea Dogs awards banquet on Monday night at the Imperial Theatre.

Dufour, who currently leads the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in points and goals, won three awards, including most valuable player.

Here's the full list of award winners:

Top Scorer Award: William Dufour
Three Stars Award: Philippe Daoust
Community Service Award: Nicholas Blagden
Rookie of the Year Award: Thomas Couture
Players' Choice MVP Award: William Dufour
Academic Player of the Year Award: William Villeneuve
Team Player Award: Riley Bezeau
Most Improved Player Award: Josh Lawrence
Top Defensive Forward Award: Raivis Ansons
Fans Choice Award: Jeremie Poirier
Top Defenseman Award: Vincent Sevigny
MVP Award: William Dufour

MC Jon Quinn also interviewed the core group of players Saint John selected in the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft: William Villeneuve, Jeremie Poirier, Brady Burns, Josh Lawrence and Charlie DesRoches.

Lawrence and Dufour were also honoured for breaking some individual offensive records this season.

The event ended with players honouring their billet families.
