Elie off to hot start with Cataractes

Shawinigan Cataractes
Vince Elie is off to quite a start.

The former Saint John Sea Dogs forward recorded three goals and four assists in his first two games of the season with the Shawinigan Cataractes last weekend. He was named the QMJHL's player of the week for his efforts.

Elie posted three goals and an assist in Shawinigan's season opening win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and then posted three assists in a win over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. The Cataractes are 2-0-0-0 and are now getting Matvei Gridin assigned to them by the Calgary Flames.
Elie enters the second week of the regular season in a tie for first in league scoring with seven points. Rouyn-Noranda Huskies rookie Lars Steiner of Switzerland, a first round pick in this year's CHL Import Draft, also has seven points.

The Sea Dogs traded Elie to Shawinigan midway through last season in exchange for Olivier Groulx and a 2024 second round pick that was used to select Cruz Scanzano.

Other than Elie, it was a fairly quiet opening weekend for former Sea Dogs in the QMJHL.
