BAIE-COMEAU, QC - The Saint John Sea Dogs suffered the worst loss in franchise history on Thursday.

The Sea Dogs allowed six goals in the first period in a 14-0 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The previous team record for goals allowed in a game was 12, which happened twice during the 2006-07 season.

The Sea Dogs have now lost nine straight games. It certainly feels like this season has reached rock bottom.

Starts have been a problem for Saint John over the past couple games – and it was no different in this one. Baie-Comeau opened the scoring just 4:09 in, led 3-0 at 10:27 and carried a 6-0 lead into the dressing room.

Eric Young got the start for Saint John but was pulled after allowing three goals on nine shots. Justin Robinson faced just two shots before leaving the game with an injury late in the first period. Young allowed nine goals on 31 shots in the final 40:46.

Matyas Melovsky had a hat trick for Baie-Comeau; Justin Poirier and Samuel Brunet each scored twice; and singles came from Alexis Michaud, Jules Boilard, Samuel Boisvert, Skogen Schrott, Oliver Samson, Louis-Charles Plourde and Shawn Pearson.

Lucas Beckman stopped all 30 shots he faced in the shutout victory.
