Sea Dogs win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada…
Our recap. The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada hung around
but weren’t able to contain the Saint John Sea Dogs on Sunday afternoon in
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League at Harbour Station.

saves for the win as the Sea Dogs improved to 36-13-0-2 and moved back into
first place overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

MISSING IN ACTION: The Sea Dogs were without forwards
Stanislav Galiev and Maxime Villemaire along with defenseman Spencer MacDonald
on Sunday afternoon.
WELCOME BACK: The Sea Dogs welcomed back forward Devon
Oliver-Dares yesterday. Oliver-Dares was playing in his first game since
suffering a head injury in Halifax on December 11. He started the game on the
third line with Aidan Kelly and Ryan Tesink. Oliver-Dares had two hits in his
return.
STREAK: The Sea Dogs extended their winning streak to
five games with the victory. They are now 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games.
CORBEIL: Mathieu Corbeil picked up his 28th
win of the season on Sunday afternoon which sets a new Sea Dogs franchise
record for wins a season. Jacob DeSerres had 27 victories last season.
Corbeil is now 28-9-0-0 with a 2.46 goals against
average, 0.907 save percentage and has recorded five shutouts.
HUBERDEAU: Jonathan Huberdeau’s second period goal was
his first since January 7 and just his second of the month. The captain now has
12 goals and 26 assists in 20 games this season.
POWER PLAY: Saint John’s power play was clicking on
Sunday, going 3-for-3. The Sea Dogs’ power play is now operating at 21.5%.
The Armada’s power play didn’t have a bad day either,
going 2-for-4.
SOLID EFFORT: The Armada were playing their third game in
three nights and fourth in five on Sunday afternoon but showed little signs of fatigue.
They outshot Saint John in both the first and second period and had two leads
in the game. They finished their four game trip through the Maritimes with a
record of 2-2-0-0.
PAQUETTE: Cedric Paquette is having a solid season for
the Armada. With his two goals on Sunday, Paquette has 23 goals and 11 assists
in 46 games,
GREAT NAMES: It was unfortunate to see Christopher
Clapperton not in the Boisbriand lineup yesterday, but with Storm Phaneuf
starting in goal, Sea Dogs fans got their fill of great names.
VS ARMADA: The Sea Dogs improved to 2-0-0-0 against the
Armada this year with the win. They outscored them 9-4 in the two games. Sunday’s
contest was their final meeting of the season.
NOTES: Tomas Jurco, Charlie Coyle, and Charles Roussel
all had two assists for Saint John… Zack Phillips had a Sea Dogs high seven
shots on goal. Charlie Coyle and Danick Gauthier both had six shots… Stephen
MacAulay and Gauthier had three hits… Coyle went 1/10 on faceoffs… Jess Tanguy
had two assists for the Armada… Cedric Paquette had a team high six shots for
Boisbriand… Vincent Richer had four hits… solid Sunday of crowd of 4,608 was on
hand at Harbour Station.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs hit the road this week and take
