It's Draft Day

CHICOUTIMI - For the first time since 2007, the Saint John Sea Dogs will select in the top three of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.

Saint John will pick third overall in today’s draft behind the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the Shawinigan Cataractes. The Sea Dogs will pick three times in the top 22 with the third, 17th, and 22nd overall selections.

Cape Breton is expected to pick Nicolas Roy first overall even though he is unlikely to report to the club. Shawinigan will probably take either Jeremy Roy or Anthony Beauvillier with the second pick. Saint John’s pick at No. 3? Probably Nathan Noel, but we’ll see what happens.

Most draft experts have the top four picks being some combination of Roy, Roy, Noel, and Beauvillier. After that things get fun.

According to the QMJHL website, here is where Saint John is picking today:
Round 1 – 3rd overall
Round 1 – 17th overall
Round 2 – 22nd overall
Round 3 – 41st overall
Round 4 – 58th overall
Round 4 – 59th overall
Round 4 – 74th overall
Round 5 – 77th overall
Round 7 – 113th overall
Round 8 – 131st overall
Round 9 – 149th overall
Round 10 – 167th overall
Round 11 – 185th overall
Round 12 – 203rd overall
Round 13 – 221st overall
Round 14 – 239th overall
The 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft begins this morning at 11am Atlantic time in Chicoutimi.
