The Grand Rapids Griffins will play the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL’s Calder Cup Final.
Tomas Jurco and the Griffins advanced to the championship series with a 5-4 win over the Oklahoma City Barons on Wednesday night in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final. Jurco scored the game winner at 13:48 of the third period.
Although he hasn’t played yet this post-season, the Crunch also feature a former Sea Dog in Danick Gauthier.

The Ottawa native spent parts of three seasons with Saint
John, winning two QMJHL titles and a Memorial Cup. He played in 22 games with
the Sea Dogs this past season as an overager before joining the MHL’s
Summerside Western Capitals.
HIGH PICK
For the fourth time in team history, Saint John will select
twice in the opening round of the QMJHL Entry Draft. The Sea Dogs also selected
twice in 2007 (Simon Despres and Steven Anthony), 2009 (Pierre Durepos and
Jonathan Huberdeau), and 2012 (Matthew Highmore and Olivier LeBlanc).
The Dogs have the third overall pick in this year’s draft
which will be the highest they’ve picked since selecting first overall in 2007.

The QMJHL Entry Draft will be begin at 11am Atlantic time
in Chicoutimi on Saturday. MAtv will be broadcasting the event once again and
