RECAP: Sea Dogs win 2-1 (OT)

FINAL: Blainville-Boisbriand 1, Saint John 2 (OT)

SAINT JOHN - Maxim Cajkovic was the overtime hero on Sunday at TD Station.

Cajkovic converted on a two-on-one with Nicolas Guay 53 seconds into the extra frame to give the Saint John Sea Dogs a 2-1 win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Cajkovic, who had been held pointless over the past two games, recorded a goal and an assist in the game. Brady Burns also scored while goaltender Noah Patenaude had his best performance as a Sea Dog, making 38 stops to earn his second straight win.

It was a fairly evenly played contest on Sunday. The Sea Dogs held control for much of the second half with the Armada feeling the fatigue of playing their third game in three days. The Armada had a few chances late in the third to pull ahead, but Patenaude was terrific and made the the stops he had to make.

The win erased some of the memories of Saturday's ugly collapse against the Shawinigan Cataractes. The Dogs now head out onto the road for three straight.

Simon Pinard scored the Armada's lone goal. Backup Olivier Adam made 40 saves in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without defenseman Patrick Musico (healthy); along with forwards Dawson Stairs (injured), Alexis Belisle (healthy) and Jeremie Jacob (healthy). Aiden MacIntosh is no longer listed on the team's roster and suited up for the MHL's Fredericton Red Wings on Saturday.

PATENAUDE: Noah Patenaude showed a much higher level of comfort in net on Sunday than he has in past games at TD Station. The comfort level was evident with the amount of times he he opted to play the puck. This was the rookie netminder's second straight win and the first start where he has allowed fewer than three goals.

STILL GOING: Brady Burns extended his goal streak to four games with a second period marker. Burns also has five goals in his past six games. The second-year Sea Dog has also matched his point total from all of last season with 29 points.

CLOSE CALL: It looked as though Burns had given the Sea Dogs a 2-1 lead 53 seconds into the third period but, after a review, the call on the ice was changed, ruling that Burns had kicked the puck in.

OT: The Sea Dogs are now 2-1 in overtime games this season and 2-0 in shootouts. This was the second time this week the Dogs needed extra time, winning in a shootout on Wednesday in Cape Breton.

NOTES: Before the game, Nicolas Guay was named the Sea Dogs student of the month for November... Guay was also honoured for recently recording his 200th career QMJHL point... Alexis Belisle took warm up but did not play... it was a lightly attended weekend at TD Station. Announced attendance was just 2,529 on Sunday.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs begin a three-game Quebec road trip on Wednesday in Gatineau, facing off against the Olympiques at 8:30 p.m.
