Recap: Sea Dogs win 6-4

FINAL: Saint John 6, Halifax 4
HALIFAX - The Saint John Sea Dogs closed out the calendar year - and the decade - with a 6-4 win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Tuesday,

Jeffrey Durocher led the way, recording a hat trick in the New Year's Eve matinee contest at Scotiabank Centre. In three games since joining the club, the overage forward has four goals and an assist.

Jordan Spadafore, Dawson Stairs and Brady Burns also scored for Saint John. Noah Patenaude made 21 saves in the victory.

The Sea Dogs trailed 2-0 after the first period despite outshooting in the Mooseheads 15-8. Durocher scored twice in the opening minute of the second period and the Sea Dogs added two more in the frame to lead 4-2. Halifax made it close in the third, but Durocher secured the win with an empty net goal.

Jeffrey Burridge, D'Artagnan Joly, Senna Peeters and Zack Jones scored for the Moose. Alexis Gravel allowed four goals on 24 shots in 40 minutes of play. Cole McLaren allowed one goal on eight shots in the third.

This victory puts Saint John above the .500 mark with a 19-18-1-0 record.
