Notebook: Single game tickets now available

Single game tickets to every Saint John Sea Dogs home game are now on sale.


Here's a look at the total single game ticket prices – which includes the lovely service and order processing fees – for each age demographic.

Adult: $26
Senior: $25
25 and under: $21
9 and under: $17

It looks like total ticket prices (which, again, include fees and taxes) are pretty similar to what they have been in recent seasons.

One change is that it does appear fans can purchase any seat in the upper bowl this season (with the exception of most end zone seating). Last season, the top half of most upper bowl sections could not be purchased until ticket sales volume required it. 

IT'S GAME WEEK
The Sea Dogs will play regular season hockey this week.

Saint John will open the season on the road this Friday and Saturday, visiting Gordie Dwyer and the Newfoundland Regiment. The Sea Dogs struggled at Mary Brown's Centre last season, going 0-4, and will likely be playing in front of a capacity crowd on Friday.

Both teams will be well rested. The Regiment last played a pre-season game on Aug. 31 while the Sea Dogs haven't played since Sept. 4.

The Sea Dogs will play their first home games the following weekend. Saint John hosts the Moncton Wildcats on Friday, Sept. 25 and the Cape Breton Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 26.

SEASON PREVIEWS
It's season preview season.

The QMJHL website has a preview of Saint John's 2026-27 campaign. A reminder of just how long it's been since the Sea Dogs had a long playoff run...

"This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Saint John Sea Dogs’ last league title," writes Will MacLaren. "It also marks a decade since the organization’s last playoff series win."

The league has also uploaded a video of the team's top plays from last season.


FloHockey, meanwhile, lists the Sea Dogs as one of the QMJHL's teams to watch this season.

"Scouts will have no choice but to make a few extra trips to New Brunswick this year as the Sea Dogs are home to one of the more promising prospects for the 2027 NHL Draft," writes Chris Peters.

HUSKIES ON FINES
The Saint Mary's Huskies officially sent their best wishes off to equipment manager Mike Fines, who joined the Sea Dogs this off-season. Here's what Huskies head coach Tyler Naugler said of Fines in a Facebook book.

Some people in a program have an impact that can never be measured by a job title, and Mike Fines is one of them.

For years, Mike was far more than our equipment manager. He was a father figure to the players on both the men’s and women’s hockey teams. He cared deeply about their safety and well-being, and about ensuring they had everything they needed to perform at their best.

The best way we can describe Mike is as a permanent light fixture at Saint Mary’s. Someone who was always there, quietly lighting the lives of everyone around him. We will need to replace the position, but we will never be able to replace him. This is not simply because of Mike’s skill or experience, which was phenomenal. It is because of his commitment, his character, and every tool he brought to the job. His ability to care for so many people, in so many different ways, is unmatched. There simply is not another Mike Fines.

On a personal level, it is difficult to imagine coming to the rink and not seeing him there. His loyalty, friendship, and unwavering support have meant more to me than I could ever properly express. 

Mike will be dearly missed at Saint Mary’s, but we wish him nothing but success as he begins his next chapter with the Saint John Sea Dogs. They are getting an absolute gem.

Thank you, Mike, for everything you have done, everything you have given, and, most importantly, for the person you have been to all of us. Our paths will continue to cross, and you will always be part of the Huskies family.

The Sea Dogs website also has Griffin Crossman and Harrison Seaward listed as equipment assistants for the upcoming season.

O'DELL TO RNS
The Sea Dogs will be able to keep a close eye on prospect Carter O'Dell this season.

Rothesay Netherwood announced this past week that O'Dell has committed to the program for the 2026-27 season. The 16-year-old forward was a sixth-round pick of the Sea Dogs in this year's QMJHL Entry Draft.

O'Dell, a Hubbards, NS native, recorded 10 goals and 13 assists in 32 games with the under-18 Halifax Macs last season. He added two goals and two assists in nine playoff games.

CCHA PRE-SEASON POLL

Michigan Tech was predicted to finish first in the conference in both the coaches and media polls. The Huskies feature former Sea Dogs forward Noah Reinhart, who is set for his second season of NCAA hockey. The 22-year-old posted nine goals and 12 assists in 39 games with the Huskies last season.

Sea Dogs fans will also want to keep an eye on Lake Superior State this season, who were predicted to place sixth in both the coaches and media polls. The Lakers will include former Sea Dogs Charles Savoie and Matteo Mann, both of whom transferred to the Michigan school this off-season.

Savoie, 23, had 27 points in 23 games with Lindenwood last season while Mann, 21, had two points in 21 games with Colorado College.

OTHER THINGS
  • The Sea Dogs finished the pre-season with a 2-2-0-0 record and were outscored 16-13. They finished with the third best power play rating (30.8%). Alexander Donovan, Jamie Glance, Olivier Groulx and Brock Lyons each had a team high three points. Donovan scored a team high two goals.
  • The Hockey Writers call Glance a "sleeper top prospect for the 2027 NHL Draft."
  • Glance was not included in TSN's pre-season top 20 for the 2027 NHL Draft. Alexis Joseph was, however, coming in at No. 5. Quebec's Carter Meyer was ranked third. "Joseph was the No. 1 pick in the 2025 QMJHL Draft and the only player other than Privalov to receive a No. 2 vote in the TSN poll."
  • At Buffalo Sabres rookie camp, Sea Dogs goaltender Samuel Meloche spoke about his commitment to Northeastern University for the 2027-28 season.
  • Robin Harvey, a retired senior executive from Irving Oil, has been named managing director of the Sea Dogs Foundation.
  • Feels inevitable within the next few QMJHL seasons.
