SAINT JOHN - An early season home-and-home between two of the CHL's top-ranked teams begins today at TD Station.

The Saint John Sea Dogs, ranked seventh in the latest CHL Top-10 rankings, host the Cape Breton Eagles, ranked third, today at 4 p.m. The two teams then battle on Friday night at Sydney's Centre 200.

Both teams will be looking to end early season losing skids today. The Sea Dogs have dropped two straight after falling in a shootout to the Moncton Wildcats last night. The Eagles, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win, starting the year off 0-1-0-2.

It's early, obviously, but this will be a big test for both clubs.

Today also marks the beginning of new Saturday start times for the Sea Dogs. All Saturday home games will begin at 4 p.m. this year at TD Station.

2026-27 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 1-1-0-1 for three points (fifth Eastern/10th QMJHL) while the Eagles are 0-1-0-2 for two points (eighth Eastern/16th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Moncton Wildcats last night at TD Station. Olivier Lemieux, Dylan Rozzi and Alexis Joseph scored for Saint John. Samuel Meloche made 22 stops in the loss. The Eagles are coming off a 4-1 loss in Charlottetown last night. Noah Jettelson scored Cape Breton's lone goal. Lucas Beckman made 21 stops in the loss.

2026-27 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Eagles.

2025-26 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 4-4-0-0 against the Eagles last season while Cape Breton went 4-4-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: March 21 at Centre 200 where the Sea Dogs ended the 2025-26 regular season with a 3-2 win over the Eagles. Angelo Fullerton scored twice for Saint John while Nolann Héroux added a single. Raoul Boilard and Reece Peitzsche scored for Cape Breton. Rafaël Courchesne made 24 stops in the win. Connor Towle made 28 stops in the loss.

Eagle to watch: Reece Peitzsche averaged a point-per-game against Saint John last season, recording five goals and three assists in eight meetings.

Random stat: Only one of Saint John's four wins over Cape Breton last season came at TD Station.
