Will Johnston, who was acquired in a trade with the Montreal Junior a few weeks ago, has yet to sign with the Sea Dogs.
Johnston is known for his toughness and was one of the MJAHL's toughest players last season. He played with former Sea Dogs tough guy Brett Gallant in Summerside. The Summerside Capitals would go on to win the Fred Paige Cup.
Mike Kelly, a PEI native, told the Telegragh-Journal on Saturday that he will continue to talk to Johnston throughout the coming weeks leading into the season opener. He is not expected to arrive before the end of training camp.
Although unlikely, Johnston may not want to report after what happened to Jordan Knox in 2007. Knox, who was a leader in almost every offensive catagory in the MJAHL, was signed by the Sea Dogs as an overager. He, along with Francis Charland- brother of Kevin, were cut following trades to acquire Scott Howes and Alex Picard-Hooper.
Station Nation will keep you updated on the latest.
