DRUMMONDVILLE – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s trading period opened this morning with a flurry of exchanges going down.

Several blockbuster trades that had been rumoured for months were finally completed today in Drummondville, Que., the site of the QMJHL Entry Draft that takes place tomorrow.

The Lewiston MAINEiacs acquired all-star net minder Olivier Roy and a third round pick in 2010 from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles for second and third round picks in this year’s entry draft as well as a second round selection in 2012.

The deal to bring Roy to Lewiston has been rumoured ever since the holiday trading period. The Edmonton Oilers draft choice was not shipped to Bathurst, however, as many reports have indicated over the past couple of days.

The Drummondville Voltigeurs sent Charles Landry and Philippe Lefebvre to the Montreal Juniors for first round picks in 2010 and 2011.

The PEI Rocket acquired Andrej Nestrasil and Travis McIsaac from the Victoriaville Tigres for their third, fourth and eighth round picks in 2010, their second and third round selections in 2011 and Vincent Richer.

Nestrasil and McIsaac, who exited the playoffs after a six game semi-final series against Saint John, complete the trade that saw the Rocket send Joel Champagne and Chris Doyle to Victoriaville at Christmas.

The Acadie-BathurstTitan acquired Olivier Hotte and Sébastien Paquette from the Voltigeurs for Julien Tremblay and a sixth round selection in 2010.

The Foreurs traded Samuel Morneau to the Olympiques for a first round pick in 2011. Gatineau also sent second and third round selections in 2011 to the Huskies for Nicolas Deslauriers.

The Océanic traded first and second round picks in 2012 for Jérôme Gauthier-Leduc.

In other major moves, the Titan moved Olivier-Dame Malka and fourth and ninth round pick to Lewiston in exchange for a third and fifth round pick. All picks were for this year's draft.

Billy Lacasse was moved out of Lewiston to Chicoutimi in exchange for a third round pick in this year’s draft and a fifth round pick in 2011.

Rouyn-Noranda Husky Nicolas Deslauriers was traded to Gatineau for a second and third round pick.

Jean-Philippe Mathieu was traded to Drummondville, allowing the Rocket to receive their first round draft pick back in return.
