DOGS REMAIN NO. 1 IN CANADA

For a 14th consecutive week, the Saint John Sea Dogs are ranked No. 1 in the Canadian Hockey League. The latest edition of the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings were released this afternoon.

It was tough week for the Sea Dogs who played all three of their games on the road. But Saint John came through with a few clutch goals to picked up three straight wins and outscore their opponents 10-5. Saint John enters action this evening on a six-game winning streak.

The Sea Dogs began their week in Rimouski where a shootout was needed for the team to pull off a 3-2 win. The next day in Bathurst, it was another extra time 3-2 win – this one only requiring overtime as Jonathan Huberdeau ripped home the winner. Then on Sunday, Saint John cruised past the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles by score of 4-1.

Having already won the Maritimes Division and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s regular season crown, the Dogs are just three wins away from breaking the all-time QMJHL record for wins in a single season.

Other QMJHL teams to crack the weekly Top 10 were Montreal Juniors at No. 4, Quebec Remparts at No. 6, and Drummondville Voltigeurs at No. 8.

The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League’s Top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.
