News & Notes From Thursday's Game

Some stuff from last night’s game…
  • Rimouski got rolling early as they scored on their first shot of the game. Alexis Loiseau’s goal 53 seconds in gave the Oceanic a 1-0 lead.
  • Loiseau was everywhere in this game, finishing the night with a goal, two assists, five shots, and a +3 rating.
  • Anthony DeLuca also had an impressive night, recording two goals and two assists.
  • Fredericton native Peter Trainor, who had six goals and seven assists in three games against Saint John last year, was held pointless.
  • Antoine Landry made his first appearance in the Saint John goal since December 7th. Despite allowing five goals, he wasn’t too bad in net and made 35 saves. In every 60-minute game he has played in this season he has faced 30 or more shots.
  • Saint John couldn’t get much of anything going offensively in this game. Of their 20 shots, only five of them were listed as dangerous.
  • Nicolas Hebert made his first appearance in Rimouski since being traded to Saint John. He had two shots, one hit, and went 16/28 on faceoffs.
  • This was the first meeting of the season between the two teams. They meet again on February 7th in Saint John.
  • The Sea Dogs were without forwards Stephen Anderson (upper body), Joey Richard (upper body), and Mathieu Joseph (healthy) along with defensemen Michael Abbott (hand) and Thomas Chabot (healthy).
  • Shawinigan lost in overtime last night and are now tied with Saint John with 25 points. The Dogs have still played two less games.

NOTES: Olivier LeBlanc and Jason Cameron each had three shots… Jimmy Oligny had seven shots… the Dogs have been a good faceoff team of late. They won 39 of 69 last night… Nathan Noel and Will Thompson returned to the lineup after taking part in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge… Lukas Walter got another instigator infraction.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs are in Quebec City on Saturday to battle the Remparts at 8pm.
