Chabot Survives First Cuts

Thomas Chabot has survived the first round of cuts at Team Canada world junior camp.

Cape Breton Screaming Eagles forward Pierre-Luc Dubois, who is a 2016 draft eligible, was among the first players released by Team Canada today. Forwards Michael Dal Colle, Spenser Watson and defenceman Jakob Chychrun were also cut.

It was also announced that Jake Virtanen has been added to the team’s roster on a loan from the Vancouver Canucks.
Canada plays Belarus on Saturday, the Czech Republic Sunday and Sweden on Dec. 23 in pre-tournament action.

From the limited reports that are available, Chabot seemingly played well in the two selection camp games against the CIS all-stars this weekend in Toronto.
Team Canada lost 5-4 in a shootout to the CIS on Saturday before rebounding with a 5-0 victory on Sunday.

Former Sea Dogs forward Stephen MacAulay (pictured), now with the Saint Mary’s Huskies, had an assist and two penalties in Saturday’s game for the CIS squad. In Sunday’s game, Chabot had an assist.
