Theede Traded To Bathurst

The Sea Dogs have swung another deal.

It was announced this afternoon that the team has dealt forward Dawson Theede to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Theede, an Ottawa native, was signed by the Sea Dogs as a free agent in July. He spent the 2014-15 season with the OJHL’s Cobourg Cougars.

In 27 games with Saint John this season, the 18-year-old recorded one goal and two assists. At 6’3” and 207 lbs, Theede was used as a third/fourth line type player who brought some physicality and toughness to the Dogs.

It’s the second time this trade period that the Sea Dogs and Titan have swung a deal. A couple weeks ago, defenseman Jason Bell was traded to Bathurst in exchange for two draft picks.

The QMJHL’s trade deadline is on Wednesday. The Sea Dogs travel to Bathurst to battle the Titan on Saturday.

  1. I'd like to see the Dogs add some toughness to their line up. It's pretty bad that their fight leader is Nathan Noel. As many people have said many times on here and other sites, most people in Saint John like a team that adds toughness to their lineups....

  3. Saint John has had problems with the Titans all season long, so trading two players to them for draft picks could back fire and make the Titans a stronger team for the rest of the season. Both Bell and Theede will be playing like they have something to prove to the Sea Dogs. We'll find out on Saturday night who got the better part of the deal.
