The Saint John Sea Dogs were busy in the final few hours of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League trade period.

Here's a rundown of what happened.

  • As was reported, the Sea Dogs acquired 18-year-old import goaltender Arseni Radkov from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2027 QMJHL Entry Draft.
  • Also as reported, the Sea Dogs acquired 20-year-old forward Maxime Côté from the Gatineau Olympiques in exchange for a sixth-round pick (Quebec) in the 2027 QMJHL Entry Draft.
  • The Sea Dogs acquired 19-year-old import defenseman Carl-Otto Magnusson, a 2026 second-round pick (Drummondville) and a 2027 second-round pick (Blainville-Boisbriand) from the Moncton Wildcats in exchange for import defenseman Max Vilen and goaltender Justin Robinson.
  • The Sea Dogs acquired 18-year-old defenseman Bo Damphousse from the Armada in exchange for forward Elliot Dubé.
  • The Sea Dogs acquired 18-year-old forward Jabez Seymour from the Charlottetown Islanders in exchange for sixth- and eighth-round picks in 2028.

Magnusson is in his first QMJHL season and has posted a goal and seven assists in 31 games with the Wildcats. Listed at 6'7" and 229 lbs, he's more of a stay-at-home defenseman that could certainly provide some help to Saint John's backend.

The Swede was a second-round pick of Moncton in this year's CHL Import Draft. He was not picked in the NHL Draft but is committed to play NCAA hockey at UConn next season.

Going to Moncton is another Swedish defenseman in Vilen. A third-round pick by Saint John in this year's CHL Import Draft, Vilen's offensive numbers have picked up of late, registering two goals and 12 assists in 27 games with Saint John.

Robinson, meanwhile, was seemingly falling into Saint John's backup role and the Sea Dogs had to make a move with Radkov coming in. The 19-year-old was in his third season with Saint John but struggled with consistency, posting a 6-10 record to go along with a .886 save percentage and 3.97 goals against average.

Damphousse, the son of long-time NHLer Vincent Damphousse, had a goal and 10 assists in 36 games with the Armada this season. Listed at 6'1" and 183 lbs, this is his third season in the QMJHL. He was a second-round pick of the Armada in the 2023 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Going to the Armada is Dubé who had slid down Saint John's depth chart. The 18-year-old posted seven goals and seven assists in 32 games with Saint John this season.

Lastly, Seymour was a first-round pick (18th overall) of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in 2023 and was in his second season with the Islanders. The Newfoundlander has five goals and two assists in 36 games this season – with four of those five goals coming against the Sea Dogs.

All of the trades that took place can be found on the QMJHL website.

The Sea Dogs return to action on Thursday when they host the Gatineau Olympiques in Fredericton.
