Game Day 52: vs Tigres

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs and Victoriaville Tigres meet this afternoon in what could be a key game to determine playoff positioning.

The Sea Dogs currently sit 15th overall with 41 points while the Tigres are 14th with 43 points. Saint John has played one more game than Victoriaville.

Game time on this Family Day Monday is 3 p.m. at TD Station.

The Sea Dogs are coming off a strange win over the Shawinigan Cataractes on Saturday, a game that saw Jabez Seymour score all three goals in a 3-2 overtime victory. That ended a five-game losing streak for Saint John.

The Tigres, meanwhile, are wrapping up an unusual Maritime road trip. They played in Cape Breton on Friday and Saturday and are now stopping in Saint John before travelling home.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 18-28-5-0 for 41 points (eighth Eastern/15th QMJHL) while the Tigres are 19-26-5-0 for 43 points (seventh Western/14th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over the Shawinigan Cataractes on Saturday. Jabez Seymour scored all three goals for Saint John. Rafaël Courchesne made 32 saves in the win. The Tigres are coming off a 5-4 shootout win in Cape Breton on Saturday. Alexey Vlasov scored a pair of goals while Egor Shilov and Brayden Besner added singles. Anthony Catanzariti made 29 saves in the win.

Last meeting: Nov. 9 in Victoriaville where the Sea Dogs defeated the Tigres 6-0. Dylan Rozzi had a pair of goals for Saint John while singles came from Alexander Donovan, Everett Baldwin, Elliot Dubé and Olivers Murnieks. Rafaël Courchesne stopped all 26 shots he faced in the win. Gabriel D'Aigle made 40 stops in the loss.
