The Sea Dogs earned a second straight win, defeating the Victoriaville Tigres 5-2. The win pushes the Sea Dogs into a tie with the Tigres for 14th overall in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League standings. Saint John has played one more game.
After a fairly solid 3-2 overtime win over the Shawinigan Cataractes on Saturday, the Sea Dogs followed that up with a strong victory over the Tigres. The Sea Dogs have struggled at times to win games they should win, so this was a positive sign.
The game never really felt in doubt even when the Tigres tied it up at 1-1 and later cut the deficit to 3-2. The Sea Dogs were able to control much of this game and Rafaël Courchesne had a strong game in net.
Alexis Joseph led the way with a goal and two assists. Jabez Seymour, Everett Baldwin, William Yared and Alexander Donovan added singles. Courchesne made 32 saves.
Victoriaville goals came from Egor Shilov and Enzo Lottin. Gabriel D'Aigle made 34 saves in the loss.
