SAINT JOHN – If you haven’t heard, today’s pre-season
game between the Sea Dogs and Halifax Mooseheads at Harbour Station has been
cancelled. More Halifax players have gotten the flu, forcing this afternoon’s
match to be cancelled just like Friday’s.
A few noteworthy items surrounding the cancellation:
- The Sea Dogs have released details on how to get a refund on tickets if you had already purchased them.
- Metro Halifax reports that a dozen players were unable to play today because of the flu. “This thing is going through the whole team,” said Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell. “There are at least 12 (with the flu) and two or three other guys are starting to show symptoms. So jumping on the bus for 10 hours today (breathing) in recirculated air is probably not the best idea.”
- Mooseheads star Nathan MacKinnon tweeted that he has “never felt worse.” He added that he “literally” hasn’t left his house since Thursday. It’s bad, you guys.
- “NHL is officially locked out, and our last 2 pre season games are cancelled? Come on #letthekidsplay,” tweeted Sea Dogs forward Stephen MacAulay.
- The Mooseheads start the regular season this Friday in Cape Breton against the Screaming Eagles.
So now we look ahead to Thursday where the Sea Dogs will
raise their President’s Cup banner to the sky and take on the Acadie-Bathurst
Titan. It will be the first game of the 2012-13 Quebec Major Junior Hockey
League campaign.
