News 88.9, Sea Dogs Renew Deal

News 88.9 will continue to be the official broadcaster of Saint John Sea Dogs hockey, the team and radio station announced this afternoon.

From the Sea Dogs release:

The Saint John Sea Dogs and Rogers Broadcasting Limited are renewing their partnership for another year. The 2012-2013 season will be the seventh year with an agreement in place between the Sea Dogs and Rogers News 88.9 FM.
“The Sea Dogs and Rogers have had an excellent relationship over the last seven years, “ says Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. “The Rogers team has become an essential part of Sea Dogs game day activities.”
Tim Roszell, the Sea Dogs play-by-play voice is also looking forward to the continued partnership.
“I am very excited to be returning to the broadcast booth for my seventh season with the Sea Dogs,’’ Roszell said. ‘’The club is in transition on the ice, and it’s a privilege to be a part of it.”

Roszell and News 88.9 have been broadcasting games since the 2006-07 season and have become a very huge part of Sea Dogs hockey.

News 88.9 will begin its 2012-13 broadcast schedule with the Sea Dogs season opener next Thursday at Harbour Station.

The other positive out of this announcement is of course the fact that it bumps John Tesh’s bizarre radio show off the air for a few hours.
