With the Saint John Sea Dogs and Victoriaville Tigres just about set to dance in their semi-final playoff series, Station Nation presents “what you need to know” about the Victoriaville.

FACTS
  • On the power play during the regular season, the ‘Tigres’ are second in the QMJHL (25.6%) while during playoffs, they post the best efficiency in the League (34.8%).
  • Best penalty kill in the League for the 2009/10 season (85.8%) and it keeps showing during playoffs as Yanick Jean’s group shows a 93% efficiency in 10 playoff games.
  • Since February 1st, the ‘Tigres’ have a 12-3 record in regular season and 8-2 in playoffs for a total of 20 wins and 5 losses and a percentage of 80%.
  • The Captain, Philip-Michael Devos, already has 16 points in ten post-season games. Just remember that he concluded the regular season with 93 points, a mere three points behind the QMJHL Leader, Sean Couturier (DRU).
  • Travis McIsaac has tallied at least one point in each of his ten playoff games in 2010. This sequence is currently the best in the QMJHL Playoffs.
  • Goaltender Kevin Poulin has been spectacular and efficient since the beginning of playoffs with an average of 1.86 GA and a .943 efficiency on shots. He is pursuing what he began during the regular season where he was selected on the second All-Star team.
  • As is the case with Saint John, the ‘Tigres’ won their last seven playoff games (three against Shawinigan and four against Quebec).

TEAM HISTORY
The franchise was granted for the 1982–83 season in Longueuil, Quebec, where they were known as the Longueuil Chevaliers. In 1987 the team moved to Victoriaville. The Tigres won the President's Cup in 2002 and went to the 2002 Memorial Cup finals, which they lost to the Kootenay Ice.

THE TOWN
Victoriaville's size and location have earned it the title Capitale des Bois-Francs, referring to the Bois-Francs region of the province. Victoriaville is noted for many of its high-quality hardwood products, including furniture, coffins, and perhaps most notably, hockey sticks.

THE RINK
The Colisée Desjardins, formerly the Colisée des Bois-Francs, is a 2,793 capacity (2,200 capacity) multi-purpose arena in Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada. It is home to the Victoriaville Tigres ice hockey team. The arena was built in 1980 and is also known as the Amphithéatre Gilbert-Perreault. Naming rights to the building were sold to the Mouvement Desjardins in 2006.
