Noel, who surprisingly went undrafted at
this weekend’s NHL Draft, has accepted an invite to attend Anaheim Ducks
development camp. According to Grant McCagg of McKeen’s Hockey, a few teams
invited Noel to camp - including the Montreal Canadiens who have been known to
invite a ton of undrafted QMJHL players in recent years – but Noel ultimately chose
Anaheim.
The 18-year-old centre from St. John’s was
ranked 54th amongst North American players by NHL Central Scouting, 78th by
HockeyProspect.com and 119th by ISS. He was one of the biggest
surprises to be passed over in this year’s draft.
Noel had this to say on Twitter today:
Congrats to all of the @SJSeaDogs who were
drafted @ThomasChabot1
@ssmallman96
@bokojr @Adam_marsh12
@Sam15D_M
@MathJoseph7

Sea Dogs defenseman Bailey Webster, who
also went undrafted this weekend, has tweeted that he has been invited to
Habs development camp.
I would like to thank @CanadiensMTL
for the opportunity of inviting me to their camp next
week!

Webster, who had one goal and five
assists in 54 games with Saint John last year, was ranked 122nd by
Central Scouting and 143rd by HockeyProspect.com.
Also undrafted today were defensemen Jack vanBoekel and Jason Bell. Both were ranked by Central Scouting.
