Friday News & Notes

The Sea Dogs will have familiar faces behind the bench next season.

The team announced on Thursday that the contracts of assistant coaches Jeff Cowan and Paul Boutilier have been extended. Details regarding the contracts were not released.

Cowan, who joined the Sea Dogs in November 2013, has worked primarily with forwards and penalty killers while Boutilier, who joined the club prior to the 2014-15 season, has focused on defense.

"We're very happy to have Jeff and Paul back with our staff this fall," said Sea Dogs general manager Darrell Young in a press release. "We believe we have one of the top coaching staffs in all of junior hockey. Our players respect them because they played the game. They were a big part of our success with special teams, faceoffs, defensive coverage and several other aspects of our game last year."
