Game Day 59: vs Mooseheads

The Saint John Sea Dogs (39-13-5-1, 1st Maritimes, 1st QMJHL) look to rebound from back-to-back overtime loses today when they host the Halifax Mooseheads (26-28-2-3, 5th Maritimes, 12th QMJHL) at 3 p.m.

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in Cape Breton on Friday. Matt Green and Cole Reginato scored for Saint John. Callum Booth made 19 saves in the loss. The Mooseheads are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday. Benoit-Olivier Groulx and Jocktan Chainey scored for Halifax. Alexis Gravel made 26 saves in the loss.

2016-17 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-2-0-0 against the Mooseheads this season while Halifax is 2-2-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Feb. 3 at Scotiabank Centre where the Sea Dogs defeated the Mooseheads 7-4. Cole Reginato had two goals for Saint John while singles came from Joe Veleno, Spencer Smallman, Jakub Zboril, Samuel Dove-McFalls and Bokondji Imama. Jake Coughler, Nico Hischier, Arnaud Durandeau and Otto Somppi scored for Halifax. Callum Booth made 15 saves in the win. Alexis Gravel made 24 stops in the loss.

Random stat: Today's game kicks off a stretch off seven straight home matches for the Sea Dogs. Saint John has played just 27 home games so far this year, which is the fewest in the QMJHL.

1. Including today's match, the Sea Dogs and Mooseheads have four meetings remaining this season - three of which will be played at Harbour Station.

2. Former Sea Dogs goaltender Blade Mann-Dixon has not played with the Mooseheads since Feb. 5 due to a lower body injury. The Moose have recalled Raphael Blais for today's game.
3. The Sea Dogs will be without defenceman Thomas Chabot today due to a two-game suspension for a check to the head in Friday's game.
