The Sea Dogs will play three games in four days beginning on Thursday at home when they host the Charlottetown Islanders. Expectations for the Islanders are very low this season as they begin a significant rebuild. Like Saint John, they are off to an 0-2 start.
On Friday, the Sea Dogs will play in the last ever Wildcats home opener at the Moncton Coliseum. Moncton is 1-1 and is coming off a 7-4 loss in Bathurst on Sunday afternoon. This will be Saint John's first road game of the year.
On Sunday, Saint John will head to Sydney to face the Screaming Eagles for the second time this season. The two teams met on Saturday at Harbour Station with Cape Breton winning a close contest, 3-1.
Green signs with Jets
Former Sea Dogs defenceman Luke Green has signed an entry-level deal with the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets are one of the rare teams that disclose financial details. According to the Jets, Green's deal is a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $846,700.
Green, who the Sea Dogs traded to the Sherbrooke Phoenix last season, was a third-round pick of the Jets in the 2016 NHL Draft.
The 19-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder at Jets camp and is expected to miss four to five months.
Fog delay
If this weekend's heat continues, ice conditions at the Moncton Coliseum on Friday could be quite terrible. On Sunday, the Armada/Olympiques game in Gatineau had to be suspended in the first period due to fog.
At least Moncton only has to survive one more season in the Coliseum.Le voyez vous ? 🤣 pic.twitter.com/RR6nB2TCIK— Genevieve (@GenLeveille) September 24, 2017
