BUFFALO - The Czech Republic begins the medal round of the 2018 World Junior Championship tomorrow.
Ostap Safin, Radim Salda and the Czechs finished group play with a 3-1 record, defeating Russia, Belarus and Switzerland. Their only loss came against Sweden. None of the team's wins came easy and goaltending is certainly a question mark moving forward.
The Czech Republic will play Finland at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the first quarterfinal game of the tournament.
Finland finished group play with a 2-2 record.
Safin has a goal and two assists through four games at the tournament. Salda has been held pointless.
The other quarterfinals will feature Canada playing Switzerland, Sweden taking on Slovakia and the United States facing Russia.
