RECAP: Sea Dogs lose 5-2

FINAL: Saint John 2, Victoriaville 5
VICTORIAVILLE, Que. - The Saint John Sea Dogs struggled to get much going offensively in a Thursday night loss to one of the league's best lineups.

The Sea Dogs registered just 18 shots on goal - six in each period - in a 5-2 loss to the Victoriaville Tigres at Colisee Desjardins.

The Tigres scored two quick goals halfway through the first period and never lost momentum from there. Victoriaville added another goal early in the second period to take full control of the game.

Maxime Comtois - in his first game back from the World Junior Hockey Championship - scored twice while singles came from Felix Lauzon, Jeremie Beaudin and Vitalii Abramov.

The Sea Dogs avoided Etienne Montpetit in net, instead facing backup Tristan Cote-Cazenave. Saint John didn't test Cote-Cazenave all that much, forcing him to make 16 saves in the win.

Saint John goals came from Cole Reginato and Ben Reid. Matt Williams made 33 saves in the loss.

LINEUP
SCRATCHES
The Sea Dogs were without defencemen Brendan O'Reilly (education reasons); and forwards Landon Quinney (healthy), Kevin Mason (healthy) and Matt Green (upper body).

O'Reilly is expected to return for tomorrow's game.

NOTES
Cole Reginato had to be helped off the ice after appearing to be involved in a knee-on-knee collision. He was favouring his leg... Ben Reid scored his first QMJHL goal... Aiden MacIntosh recorded his first QMJHL point (an assist)... Yohan Plamondon recorded his first point as a Sea Dog (an assist)... with Matt Williams starting in this game, we'll likely see Alex D'Orio start the remainder of this road trip.
