Game Day 24: vs Sagueneens

SAINT JOHN - For the first time since Halloween night, the Saint John Sea Dogs will hit the TD Station ice.

The Sea Dogs are coming off a stretch of six straight road games, which saw them go a respectable 3-3. The team has been off since last Friday to prepare for an odd three-in-three that will see them host the Chicoutimi Sagueneens tonight; visit the Acadie-Bathurst Titan tomorrow; and then return home to take on the Titan on Sunday afternoon.

Game time tonight is 7 p.m.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 8-14-1-0 for 17 points (fifth Maritimes, ninth Eastern, 16th QMJHL) while the Sagueneens are 16-5-2-0 for 34 points (first East, second Eastern, third QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-3 loss in Rouyn-Noranda last Friday. Maxim Cajkovic scored twice while Matt Gould added a single. Zachary Bouthillier allowed five goals on 39 shots. The Sagueneens are coming off a 4-0 loss in Moncton last night. Alexis Shank allowed four goals on 37 shots.

2019-20 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the two.

2018-19 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 0-2-0-0 against the Sagueneens last season while Chicoutimi went 2-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Jan. 26 in Saint John where the Sags defeated the Dogs 3-1. Hendrix Lapierre had two goals for Chicoutimi while Liam Murphy added a single. Maxim Cajkovic scored for Saint John. Alexis Shank made 29 saves in the win. Zachary Bouthillier made 40 stops in the loss.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Sagueneens: None.

Sagueneen to watch: Hendrix Lapierre is back in the Sagueneens lineup after missing a couple weeks with an injury. Some have him projected to be a top 10 pick in this year's NHL Draft.

Random stat: Since returning to Saint John's lineup on Nov. 9, Maxim Cajkovic has five goals and four assists in five games.

Notes: Brady Burns, Nicolas Guay and Jeremie Poirier all have a Saint John high 23 points... Nicholas Deakin-Poot leads the team in goals with 11... Guay and William Villeneuve each have a team high 16 assists... Samuel Houde leads Chicoutimi in points with 31, goals with 12 and assists with 19... Saint John is 4-6-0-0 at home this season... Chicoutimi is 8-3-1-0 on the road... Poirier leads all QMJHL defensemen in goals with nine... the Sags have the worst power play in the league with a rating of 13.4%... Cajkovic has goals in four straight games.
