Recap: Sea Dogs lose 8-1

- Josh Lawrence scored a hat trick to lead the Halifax Mooseheads past the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday at TD Station.

Lawrence had three goals and an assist in the Mooseheads' 8-1 victory over his former club. Logan Crosby, Brody Fournier, Brady Schultz, Braeden McPhee and Owen Phillips also scored in the win. Alexandre Doucet had three assists.

Mathis Rousseau made 23 saves in the victory.

The Mooseheads have now earned at least a point in 18 straight games. They are on a 16-0-2-0 run.

Brady Burns scored Saint John's only goal. Ventsislav Shingarov allowed eight goals on 39 shots in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without defenseman Vincent Despont (injury) along with forwards Pavel Simek (injury), Alexis Cournoyer (healthy), Luka Benoit (healthy) and Jacob Beaulieu (healthy).

MISSING: Forward Alexis Cournoyer was listed as a healthy scratch, missing his first game of the season. Rookies Cole Burbidge and Nicolas Bilodeau are now the only players who have appeared in every game with the team this season.

NOTES: Forward Peter Reynolds and defenseman Jeremie Richard were both celebrating birthdays... the Sea Dogs went with 11 forwards and seven defensemen... the Sea Dogs have now lost four straight home games... a total of four penalties were called the entire game... Alex Drover had five shots... Josh Lawrence had eight shots... Saint John won just 18 of 52 faceoffs... attendance was 2,787.
