SAINT JOHN – Coming off an entertaining 6-5 shootout victory last night, the Saint John Sea Dogs are back at it again tonight against the Val-d’Or Foreurs. Game time is 7pm this evening at Harbour Station.

The Sea Dogs came back from a 3-0 first period deficit to defeat the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies last night. Stephen MacAulay scored three goals – all on the power play – while Oliver Cooper and Devon Oliver-Dares added singles. Goaltender Sebastien Auger made 27 saves and stopped all three shooters in the shootout to earn the win.

Last night’s win ended a three-game losing streak for Saint John. It was the Sea Dogs’ first win since September 30.

The Sea Dogs are now 5-4-0-0 on the season and have been outscored 33-27 by opposition. They currently sit third in the Maritimes Division and seventh overall with 10 points.

Saint John continues to be led by Captain Jonathan Huberdeau who has 14 points in nine games. Huberdeau’s eight goals lead the team while Ryan Tesink has a team high seven assists.

The Foreurs enter action tonight with a 3-6-0-0 record for six points and sit fifth in the Telus West Division and 16th overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. They have been outscored 33-32 by opponents.

Val-d’Or is only 1-4-0-0 on the road this year. This is the final game of a three-game road trip through the Maritimes for the Foreurs who played in Cape Breton on Wednesday and Moncton on Friday.

Anthony Mantha leads the Foreurs in scoring with 13 points in nine games.

Following tonight’s game, the Sea Dogs will not play at home again until October 26. The team travels to Quebec for a three-game trip this week.

LAST GAMES
The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-5 shootout win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies last night. Stephen MacAulay had a hat trick while Oliver Cooper and Devon Oliver-Dares added assists. Jonathan Huberdeau and Kevin Gagne each had two assists. Huberdeau scored the lone shootout goal. Sebastien Auger made 27 saves in the game and stopped all three attempts in the shootout.


The Foreurs are coming off a 4-3 loss in Moncton in last night. Samuel Henley, Cedrick Henley, and Anton Zlobin each scored for Val-d’Or. Anthony Mantha had two assists. Francois Tremblay made 32 saves in the loss.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Sea Dogs went 2-0-0-0 against the Foreurs last season while Val-d’Or went 0-1-0-1 against the Sea Dogs.

The last time these two met was on October 15, 2011 with the Sea Dogs winning 4-1. Zack Phillips had two goals while Jonathan Huberdeau and Jason Cameron added singles. Nicolas Larocque-Marcoux scored Val-d’Or’s lone goal. Mathieu Corbeil made 14 saves and Francois Tremblay 24.

Memorial Cup hero Anton Zlobin now plays for the Foreurs.
