Former Sea Dog Michael Kirkpatrick is heading to Italy next month.
The third year St. Francis Xavier X-Men forward was one
of 12 Atlantic University Sport forwards named to Team Canada for the 2013
Winter Universiade in Trentino, Italy. The 26th biennial Games will run from
December 10th to 21st, with the men's hockey gold-medal
match set for the final day of competition.
This year’s team is made up entirely of AUS players. There
are plenty of former QMJHL standouts on the team but Kirkpatrick was the only
former Sea Dog to make the 23-man squad.
The full roster, as well as more info on the Games, can be found on the AUS website.
Kirkpatrick has three goals and four assists in seven
games with StFX this season.
The 23-year old spent four seasons with Saint John from
2007-2011, ending his junior career by helping the Sea Dogs win the 2011
Memorial Cup. In 266 regular season QMJHL games, Kirkpatrick recorded 108 goals
and 143 assists. He added 55 points in 51 playoff contests.
