Oh how quickly things change in junior hockey.
On this day two years ago, a single point separated the
Shawinigan Cataractes and Saint John Sea Dogs at the top of the Quebec Major
Junior Hockey League standings.
Today, the two teams are separated by three points in the
league’s basement.
Games were intense between the two during
the 2011-12 season with so much on the line in the standings. They could be
just as good this year with the two battling for a playoff spot with two months
left in the season.
Saint John and Shawinigan meet for the first time this
season tomorrow night in at the building formerly known as Centre Bionest. They also meet on February 20th at Harbour Station.
The bottom of the league’s standings have gotten quite
congested over the past few weeks with Bathurst, Charlottetown, and Sherbrooke
all struggling and Saint John and Shawinigan improving. Only eight points
separate the 18th-place Cataractes and the 14th-place
Titan.
