News & Notes From Sunday's Game

Some stuff from yesterday’s game…

• The game started later than scheduled due to a power outage in the uptown area that affected Harbour Station. The power was restored eventually, allowing the game to start at around 3:30 pm.
• Stephen Anderson got the scoring going with his 11^th of the season at 7:27 of the first period. All of Saint John’s scoring would come in the first with Matthew Highmore netting his 12^th at 15:08 on a five-on-three power play.
• Highmore had two points in the game, Anderson a goal, and Olivier LeBlanc an assist. This all after the three went pointless on Saturday against Halifax.
• Anderson got smoked by an Anthony Gingras open ice hit at 18:44 of the second period. He had to be helped off and did not return. Oliver Cooper fought Gingras following the hit and picked up an instigator misconduct.
• There was another fight in the game as well with Marcus Cuomo dropping the gloves with Nicolas Dumulong in the first. It was a “spirited tilt” as the people say.
• Sebastien Auger was solid as usual, making 39 saves in the win. Was it his last start as a Sea Dog? Maybe? Maybe not? I don’t know.
• The Titan, owners of the worst power pay in the league, went 1-for-7 on the man advantage on Sunday. The game might have had a different outcome if they had cashed in on some of those.
• Former Sea Dog Scott Oke was held pointless. He did record three shots though.
• The win ended a six-game home losing streak for the Dogs. It's the second longest home losing streak in the league this season.
• Sea Dogs improved to 3-2-0-0 against the Titan this year.
• Saint John is now 4-6-0-0 in their last 10 games. They are five points back and have played three fewer games than the Sherbrooke Phoenix who hold the final playoff spot.
• The Sea Dogs were without forwards Nathan Noel (Under-17s), Joey Richard (upper body), Samuel Dove-McFalls (upper body), and Connor Donaghey (healthy) along with defensemen Michael Abbott (hand), Will Thompson (Under-17s), and Jeremy Doucet (healthy).

NOTES: $2,213 went to the 50/50 winner… Olivier LeBlanc, Jurij Repe, and Nicolas Hebert all had four shots… Spencer Smallman, Kelly Bent, and Stephen Anderson each had two hits… Mathieu Joseph won five of six faceoffs… Saint John plays their next four games on the road.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs begin a three-game, four day road trip through Quebec in Rimouski on Thursday night.
