Stephen MacAulay finished in a tie for first in Atlantic
University Sport playoff scoring.
MacAulay finished the AUS post-season with five goals and
six assists for 11 points in 11 games, tying him for the point lead with
Moncton’s Alex Emond and Acadia’s Liam Heelis.
In his first AUS campaign, the former Sea Dogs forward
helped the Saint Mary’s Huskies reach the AUS Final where they lost 3-1 in the
best-of-five series to the favoured Acadia Axemen. The Axemen will now represent
the AUS at CIS Nationals in Saskatoon.
Also of note, Moncton’s Pierre Durepos, also in his first
AUS season, finished second in defensemen playoff scoring with three goals and
three assists in six games.
Some other news and notes on this Tuesday night:
- Because it just wouldn’t be a regular season without the Sea Dogs seeing the Screaming Eagles’ Irish jerseys, the Eagles will be wearing the green sweaters in tomorrow’s game when they host Saint John at 7pm.
- Both Jurij Repe and Marcus Cuomo are suspended for tomorrow’s game due to “aggressor” game misconducts in Sunday’s game at Bathurst. The team was also fined $500 for each infraction. The loss of Repe is a big one with the Dogs already thin on the blue line due to injuries.
- Charlottetown picked up a big point in an overtime loss to the Halifax Mooseheads tonight. They now sit 15th with 48 points. Bathurst sits 14th with 48 points as well. The two meet on Friday night at Eastlink Centre.
- Tomorrow night: a huge game between the Cataractes and Phoenix in Sherbrooke. Shawinigan has won all three previous meetings this season. If the Phoenix lose they are eliminated from post-season contention.
