Thomas Chabot had a solid outing in Team Canada’s 7-1 pre-tournament victory over Belarus yesterday in Finland.
During an intermission segment, TSN’s
Bob McKenzie even suggested that Chabot is currently one of the favourites to
grab one of the spots on the Canadian backend for the world juniors.
Corey Pronman of ESPN was also
impressed.
Another underage whose has a good
game is Thomas Chabot-OTT, likely to be in the line up on Boxing
Day.

Team Canada continues pre-tournament
play today when they take on Jakub Zboril and the Czech Republic at 11 a.m.
That game can be seen on TSN. The Hockey House has a preview of the Czech team,
writing that Zboril had “a solid Summer Showcase tournament in Canada this past
summer, and there’s no question the Boston Bruins first rounder will be a
leader on a team without a great group of stars like Canada or the United
States.”
Canada plays Sweden in exhibition play on Wednesday before
opening up the tournament on Boxing Day against the United States.
Meanwhile, former Sea Dogs forward Juraj
Siska (pictured) is on Slovakia’s world junior camp roster. In an article on The Hockey Writers, Alessandro Seren Rosso writes that Siska could be on the team’s
top line.
Siska, drafted ninth overall by Mike Kelly and the Sea Dogs in the 2013 CHL Import Draft, played in 64 games with the Sea Dogs last season and recorded seven goals and eight assists. The 19-year-old is playing with HC Nitra this season, according to the IIHF website.
