SAINT JOHN - A wild night at TD Station ended with a Saint John Sea Dogs victory.
The Sea Dogs and Gatineau Olympiques went back-and-forth all night long in an offensive affair that ended in a 10-6 Saint John win. The two clubs combined for 16 goals on 75 shots, which included a seven goal second period.
The Sea Dogs chased their former teammate, goaltender Tommy DaSilva, from the Olympiques net after he allowed six goals on 31 shots in the first 40 minutes. Saint John scored on just their second shot of the game, which ended up setting the tone for a busy night. It was DaSilva's first start with his new team after being traded by Saint John at the holiday deadline.
Remi Poirier, Gatineau's No. 1 netminder, didn't have much better luck with the Dogs, allowing four goal on 11 shots in the third.
Several Sea Dogs had big offensive nights. Josh Lawrence and Jeremie Poirier each scored twice while Joshua Roy added a goal and three assists. William Villeneuve and Nicholas Deakin-Poot each had a goal and two helpers while other singles came from Kale McCallum, Julian Vander Voet and Maxim Cajkovic.
Noah Patenaude didn't have a night to remember in the Sea Dogs net, but earned the win anyways. He looked shaky at times, allowing six goals on 33 shots.
The Sea Dogs victory ended a four-game winning streak for the Olympiques.

LINEUP
SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forward Alex Badalamenti (lower body) and Alexandre O'Niell (healthy) along with defenseman Brendan Sibley (healthy). Here is tonight's projected lineup for your #SJSeaDogs brought to you by @CantrburyDental #AlwaysWearYourMouthGuard pic.twitter.com/cNvZVrXk5z— Saint John Sea Dogs (@SJSeaDogs) January 22, 2020
HURT: Former Sea Dogs defenseman Vincent Martineau remains out of the Olympiques lineup with an injury. He has missed the past couple weeks of action.
DROUGHT ENDS: You could tell William Villenueve was relieved by his goal celebration. His second period goal was his eighth of the season but his first since Dec. 14 - nearly a month ago. He also two assists, giving him his third three-point game of the year.
BIG NIGHT: Rookie Joshua Roy had a big night, setting a career high for points in a game by recording a goal and three assists. He registered a goal and two helpers in a game twice previously this season.
CLOSE CALL: With 4:05 remaining in the third, it looked as though the Olympiques had tied the game at 5-5. After a review, the goal was called off. Jeremie Poirier went on to score a few minutes later, giving Saint John a 6-4 lead at the time.
FINALLY: The drought is over for Maxim Cajkovic, who scored for the first time since returning from the World Junior Hockey Championship. It was the forward's first goal since Dec. 4.
SEASON HIGH: The 10 goals scored was a season high for the Sea Dogs. Their previous season high was eight, which they scored in Gatineau.
FOR THE RECORD BOOKS: This was the fifth time in team history that the Sea Dogs scored 10 goals in a game. They've scored 11 twice before while the club record is 12, set in 2008. The 16 combined goals scored, meanwhile, is tied for the second most total goals ever scored in a Sea Dogs game. The record is 18, set in 2008.
WAYS TO GO: There was a combined 16 goals in this game, but that is still a little ways from the season high for goals in a game. That came on Dec. 6 when Rimouski beat Val-d'Or 10-8 for a combined 18 goals.
ODD CROWD: A large portion of the 3,462 in attendance were jammed into the end zone portion of the upper bowl.
NOTES: Before the game, the Sea Dogs honoured forward Maxim Cajkovic for his participation in the World Junior Hockey Championship... Tommy DaSilva was still sporting his Sea Dogs mask... following Jeremie Poirier's second period goal, Gatineau's Braeden Virtue was given a penalty after he knifed Matt Gould's stick away, landing it in the corner... on top of entering the game on a four-game winning streak, the Olympiques had won nine of their past 10 games... this was Noah Patenaude's first start since New Year's Eve... the winning team in all four QMJHL games played on Thursday scored six or more goals. If you’re watching this game on TV, the crowd is in the upper bowl pic.twitter.com/F24Vo9G5Nc— Jamie Tozer (@station_nation) January 22, 2020
