SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to pick up their first win of this three-in-three Quebec road swing today in Sherbrooke. They take on the Phoenix today at 5pm.

Saint John’s road trip hasn’t gone so well so far. They lost 9-1 in Rimouski on Friday and fell 6-4 yesterday in Victoriaville. One positive at least is that the Dogs played much better yesterday then they did on Friday.

The Sea Dogs have lost three straight and are just 3-7-0-0 in their last 10 games. They have a record of 18-23-0-0 and sit fifth in the Telus Maritimes Division and 15th overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Jakub Izacky, who had two goals and two assists against the Tigres yesterday, is Saint John’s leading scorer with 19 points in 36 games.

Alex Fournier started in net yesterday so Sebastien Auger should be back between the pipes for the Sea Dogs today. Auger has collected all 18 of Saint John’s wins this season.

After a terrible start to the season, Sherbrooke has gradually improved as the season has gone on. If the playoffs started today, they would be in them. They sit 16th overall in the league with an 11-25-2-4 record and are three points up with a game in hand on the 17th-place Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

The Phoenix have lost two straight and are 3-5-0-2 in their last 10. They are 6-9-2-4 at home this season.

Michael McNamee leads the Phoenix in scoring with 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points in 40 games.

Saint John is coming off a 6-4 loss in Victoriaville yesterday. Jakub Izacky and Maxime Villemaire each scored twice. Alex Fournier allowed five goals on 40 shots in the loss.

Sherbrooke is coming off a 5-1 loss in Chicoutimi on Friday night. Former Sea Dogs defenseman Benjamin Hade scored the only Phoenix goal. Jack Flinn allowed three goals on 13 shots in 20 minutes of action while Jacob Gervais-Chouinard allowed two goals on 20 shots in relief.

The Sea Dogs are 1-0-0-0 against the Phoenix this season while Sherbrooke is 0-1-0-0 against Saint John.

Their only previous meeting this season came on November 9 at the Palais des Sports when the Sea Dogs defeated the Phoenix 8-4. Stephen MacAulay had a hat trick, Devon Oliver-Dares scored a pair, and singles came from Jakub Izacky, Ryan Tesink, and Marcus Cuomo. Jeremy Beaudry had two goals for Sherbrooke while solo markers came from Cole Hawes and Daniel Audette. Sebastien Auger made 23 saves for the win. Jack Flinn allowed six goals on 27 shots and Jacob Gervais-Chouinard allowed two on 21 shots.
