With only two players remaining at NHL
training camps and their roster nearly normalized, the Saint John Sea Dogs have announced their leadership group for the 2015-16 season.
Forward Spencer Smallman, who recently
returned from Carolina Hurricanes camp, will be the 13th captain in
team history. Entering his fourth year with the team,
Smallman is one of the longest serving current Sea Dogs. He was a fourth-round
pick of Saint John in the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft.
The departed Olivier LeBlanc and the graduated Mark Tremaine acted as team captains last season.
Meanwhile, head coach Danny Flynn also
announced that forwards Bokondji Imama, Samuel Dove-McFalls and Matthew
Highmore will serve as alternate captains.
According to a team release, “Flynn
indicated there may be additions to the leadership group as the roster
stabilizes, and throughout the season as well.”
The new letters will be on display
tonight when the Sea Dogs take on the Islanders in Charlottetown at 7 p.m.
