The Saint John Sea Dogs begin one of their biggest road trips of the season on Thursday.
In terms length, it's big. The Sea Dogs will play three games in three days in Quebec, visiting Baie-Comeau on Thursday, Chicoutimi on Friday and Shawinigan on Saturday. Perhaps more importantly, though, is that this trip is important in terms of the standings.
Yes, it's early, but this road trip could have a big impact on the playoff picture come March. Here's a look at the bottom of the QMJHL's overall standings heading into Wednesday's action:
While this trip will have an impact on the standings, it could also have a major impact on the Sea Dogs' immediate future. These are three winnable games, and for a team that has struggled to close out wins over the past month, this is a huge opportunity to gain some momentum.
The Sea Dogs have not played Baie-Comeau or Shawinigan yet this season. The Sagueneens visited Harbour Station on Oct. 21, defeating the Sea Dogs 4-3 in a shootout.
Thursday and Friday's games begin at 8:30 p.m., respectively. Saturday's contest will be a 5 p.m. start.
