Three Sea Dogs suspended

SYDNEY, NS - Suspensions have been handed down for Sunday's third period altercation between the Saint John Sea Dogs and Charlottetown Islanders.

The suspensions for the Sea Dogs are as follows:

  • Six games for Cole Reginato - four for physical abuse towards an official; one for being an aggressor; and one for code accumulation.
  • Two games for Robbie Burt for boarding.
  • One game for Samuel Duchesne for second fight on the same stoppage of play.

The only Islander to be suspended, as expected, was Drew Hunter, who fought Duchesne in what was the second fight of the same stoppage.

All of this took place after Burt put a huge hit - which resulted in a two-game suspension - on Charlottetown's Samuel Meisenheimer.

Wednesday's altercation came as a surprise as the Sea Dogs have been playing quite disciplined of late and have faced very little supplementary discipline this season compared to year's past.

The Sea Dogs lead the QMJHL in fights this season with 16.

Reginato, Burt and Duchesne will miss Saint John's Wednesday game in Sydney against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The loss of Reginato, who started Sunday's game on the top line with Joe Veleno and Ostap Safin, is a big one.
